Boobs. Nude nuts and Scissor Cuts

I don’t know anyone that doesn’t care about their hair. A sign of virility and femininity, hair is our thing and we feel great when it looks good - hair flick! I am yet to meet a girl who doesn’t wish hers was different, nor a woman who hasn’t cried at one time, thanks to an Edward Scissorhands attack in the salon. As for you boys, be it follicly blessed, challenged or bald - I don’t know how that makes you feel, but my gut tells me if you are losing or lost it, that may have hurt. Personally, I find a nude nut dead sexy and have always maintained the more hair you lose the more head you get (wink)! But to lose one’s hair involuntarily due to chemotherapy is simply cruel. Sadly, we all know someone who has been stripped of much by cancer. Its insidious nature is set up to take. Hair, body parts, dignity, resources and then continues taking because that’s what cancer does. Breast cancer is common and survivable right? Breast cancer seems ok, until someone you love gets it. Someone I love has it, her name is Sarah Sharpe. Like everyone diagnosed, Sarah is special beyond description to those who love her. She is gutsy, empathetic, gracefully acknowledging how fortunate she is despite the diagnosis and the unchartered territory ahead. Rather than why me, she thinks why not me - a humbling perspective. Embarking on the journey (don’t we love that word) of supporting her, I want to help her the only way I know how. Shaving my head for charity, an act of bravery or stupidity depending where you fall on the extremist spectrum. Sarah chose The McGrath Foundation so other women may receive the care they need. Back to hair. Starting Chemo three weeks ago, Sarah is losing hers so I am shaving mine in solidarity with my sister and to support the McGrath Breast Care Nurses who support individuals and their families experiencing breast cancer. Their nurses provide physical, psychological and emotional support from the time of diagnosis, throughout treatment. My goal is 10k by New Years Day! As for my hair. I never liked it but have vainly maintained it like everyone does. But now, I choose to lose it in support of a mate. A mate who doesn’t have the luxury of choice.
