In memory of Constance Joy Martin
My beautiful, strong and courageous mum was first diagnosed with breast cancer more than 22 years ago. After having a mastectomy and going through chemo, she fought and won her battle with this horrible disease. After just on 10 years in remission her cancer returned, metastasizing to her left underarm. More treatment including radiation (with side effects including lymphedema), tablets galore and cancer trials were undertaken. This bastard of a disease metastasized again through the lymphatic system to her chest.
'Joy' passed away on Friday, January 23rd, 2026. We have been supported by the amazing Professor Fran Boyle and the McGrath Cancer Care nurses throughout her cancer journey. We were also strongly supported by the community palliative care nurses in the last months of her life, enabling us to fulfil mums wish to be at home with her family and pets. Please consider a donation to this amazing organisation instead of flowers. It really will make a difference to someone when they need it most.
