Let's do our part for our Mums, Sisters, Aunts, Daughters and friends
I lost my Mum Fran, to breast cancer.
I felt helpless....and angry. Mum was always so strong. A fighter in the truest form. Nothing would get the better of her. Unfortunately breast cancer thought otherwise.
We lost her on January 16, 2002. She was 53.
After seeing what Mum went through and she had us to support her, It upset me that there were women out there who would have to go through the biggest battle of their life, alone.
When I saw the work the McGrath Foundation breast care nurses do to assist women already diagnosed with breast cancer and their families, my mind was made up.
I created Frannie's Day. An annual barefoot bowls event where everyone could get involved, have a laugh, remember Mum and raise much needed funds to support these incredible nurses who inturn, support Aussie women already battling this disease.
Because no one should have to fight breast cancer alone.
Since 2010 I have been registered with the McGrath Foundation and in 11 one day events, we have raised over $55,000. On the second Sunday in September, we hit the greens in our pinkest outfits and 'Bowl Our Butts Off For Boobs'.
Having this fundraising page helps open the door for people who can't attend Frannie's Day but still want to get involved. In the last two years, with covid cancelling our event, it has been a godsend.
