Bathy's Boobies - Guessing Competition

By Denise Bath Join Me

Bathy's Boobies - Guessing Competition - Open 26th September (12 am) to 7th November, 2020 (11.30 pm)

I'm fundraising to help make the lives of families experiencing breast cancer that little bit easier.

I'm aiming to raise money by conducting a guessing competition. More about that shortly, but first, I'll tell my latest Breast Cancer story through a song written to the tune of a well-known children's song "Do Your Ears Hang Low". Of course,  it's about a different part of my anatomy  - yes,  you guessed it - my boobs! Here it is!

Well my boobs hung low

They wobbled to and fro

I could tie them in a knot

I could tie them in a bow

They drooped down to my toes

I could flip them to my nose

My boobs hung low.

The doctor said to me one day

I hate to have to say

There’s cancer in the breast

I need to cut off the one on the left

In the doctor I then confided

“I’m scared I’ll be lopsided;

And just one boob will still hang low.”

I cried “I don’t want to be so blunt,

But get rid of both at once,

Don’t you think it will look very odd?

I'll look rather like a clod,

If one's left hanging there

Then people will start to stare

I don't want my boob to hang low.

So my boobs hang low no more

They don’t droop down to the floor.

They can’t reach my nose at all,

They don’t stick out through the door.

They don’t feel I have a brick

Hanging around my neck.

My boobs hang low no more.

As evidenced by the song, I am choosing to take a fun,  light-hearted approach to the whole subject of Breast Cancer, and this fund raising competition. I find that approaching the topic in this manner enables me to handle the situation in a much more positive way than I normally would be able to.

Of course, a breast cancer diagnosis can be absolutely devastating and can change your life in an instant. The impact can be felt right through your family and friends.

McGrath Breast Care Nurses bring you and your family peace of mind through expert knowledge, personal care and genuine compassion. They can help you create time in your life not defined by breast cancer.

Supporting me to raise funds for this great cause is easy and you can help place specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurses, wherever they're needed.

Now to the Competition - people that know me will remember that I had extremely large breasts for all of my adult life. That is why I asked the doctor, when he suggested I have a mastectomy on my left breast, that he remove both, so that I wouldn't be left very uneven!

In the pathology report, they recorded the weight of each breast, in grams. Can you guess how much they weighed? I will judge the guesses on the combined weight of both, however, please, still nominate the weight of each one (i.e. left and right) as well the total amount. This is in case of a "dead heat", then I will choose the winner based on who had the  closest guess with each breast. Should there still be a dead heat, I will draw the winner out of a hat. Just a couple of clues, for those that don't know me so well - my right breast was larger than my left. My bra size was 44 (or 22 US/UK and AUS charts) EE cup. I said I was big!!! Of course, there is a photo here, too, which you might find helpful.

I'm  sure you want to know what the prize will be - three nights at one of my Club Wyndham timeshare resorts - you can choose which one. However, the prize covers accommodation only - you will be required to provide  your own transport, food, and other expenses. I will discuss the specifics with the winner,  but Wyndham have resorts in most Australian states, as well as overseas. Of course, the Covid situation currently restricts many destinations,  but you may choose to wait for awhile if you prefer, in case restrictions are lifted (although probably due to the fact it is only 3 nights, you won't want to travel too far anyway!

There will also be a "booby prize" for the person with the 'wildest' guess (ie. the furthest from the correct weight) - a jar of Musk Sticks (of course - they're pink!)

Just to make the competition easier to manage and fairer, you can have one guess for up to, and including $10, 3 guesses for up to, and including $20 or more. You will need to complete the donation on this page, but please send your guesses to me via Messenger.  Please mention in your message, as well, the amount you donated.

I hope you will join with me in having a guess, while having a bit of fun at the same time, to raise funds for McGrath Foundation.  I have benefited  greatly from having access to one of these nurses - for both times that I received a diagnosis (now and 2016). They are a hugely valuable resource and support for BC patients!

Together, we can make a difference!

Thank you so much for your support.

Finalising Competition

Hi Guys.
I've been working through people's guesses and a few of you have made a donation, but have not yet had a guess. Some of you have only had 1 guess when you are entitled to 3. If that is you, please send your guesses through to me by PM. I'm working through the list as well, and will send a reminder, but if you know before I send the message, please send your guesses through to me ASAP, so I can cross you off the list. At least the donations are already made, because I think McGrath will close it down at midnight. I can take a day or two to sort through them, to make sure I have all the guesses, but I just don't want to take too long to do that.
I intend to get someone check them all for me as well, to make sure I haven't made mistakes, which will mean it will be a few days before I announce the winners.

The "Educated Guess"!

I mentioned at the beginning of this competition that I chose this activity to raise money for McGrath because it was important for me to take a light-hearted approach to the situation. I want to share with you a friend's approach to making an "educated guess". It is priceless. It bought tears to my eyes. Glenn's flatmate, Kylie, sent the text to me, along with the photos: Hi Denise , Thought I’d give you a laugh by sending you a couple of pics of glenn ( he is my house mate ) Last night he was trying to guess your boob size for the competition. First he asked me to weigh my boobs to gauge some idea of the average weight of boobs . I declined ?? Then I caught him on the couch grabbing his own “ A “ cup. ? Then he got my rockmelon from the kitchen and put it up his shirt and tried to guess the weight of it that way . The best bit .. I have photographic evidence ....

Last Chance!

Just a little over 24 hours to go. now, so if you haven't entered yet, hurry up and get your guesses in! Guesses can be included with your donation, or message them to me by Messenger. Many women are impacted by breast cancer. It could be yourself - or someone close to you. Help McGrath Foundation raise money for Nurses!
Can you see yourself relaxing in a resort for 3 nights? Someone is going to win that! It may be you!
