Let's do our part for breast cancer
Breast cancer doesn’t care how old you are or where you live, and it most definitely does not care what plans you have for your life, which certainly does not include dealing with cancer.
1 in 7 women are expected to be diagnosed in their lifetime.
Earlier this year, I found a lump in my breast and shortly after multiple tests and scans, I got the phone call that I am now part of that statistic.
It has been an interesting ride since that phone call, and I am beyond grateful for having the best family and friends who have been there for me every step of the way.
But this isn’t about me and how I’m fighting the big c*, or Calvin how I’d like to call that little sucker who has turned my life upside down.
What I want to tell you is how blown away I have been by the medical care, the research into breast cancer and the kindness I received from the Breast Care Nurses who are always there to listen, guide and support people from diagnosis, all the way through treatment.
They are a trusted source of information who provide sensible answers to the many questions I’ve had during the often confusing treatment process and hold my hand through one of the most challenging times in my life.
This support is incredibly invaluable, not just for me but for all of the 22,000 people expected to be diagnosed each year.
I appreciate all the check-ins, love and well wishes, but what I’d love even more is your support to raise funds for all the nursing heroes who, every single day, make the journeys of other breast cancer patients as positive and optimistic as mine.
