Let's do our part for breast cancer

As a group of young females personally connected to individuals impacted by Breast Cancer, we feel empowered and inspired to create an event which encompasses the power of community support and education. 

As a team of eight 20-25 year olds we are surprised to find majority of people our age have little to no understanding of breast cancer, the diagnosis process and early intervention practices which could potentially impact ourselves, our families and communities. 

Within our Event Creation Lab course at The University of Technology Sydney, we were tasked with creating a memorable and impactful fundraiser experience through a virtual event. A cause we are collectively passionate about, it was an easy decision to fundraise for a community-centric organisation such as The McGrath Foundation, where support, awareness, education and community spirit is at the cornerstone of its cause.

We are planning to host a virtual ‘Booby Brunch’, a community event for anyone; of any age, gender or connection to the McGrath Foundation. The event will include an educational session on early breast cancer intervention and prevention, the contribution of an individual living with Metastatic Breast Cancer and a group baking activity. The baking activity would include a step-by-step guide to making scones, with the opportunity for event attendees to sit , chat and enjoy their baking creation whilst being educated on this cause.
